Trace the atlas’s EIA inventory extracts, USDA forecast vintages, original charts and contextual references to their source and reuse conditions.

Commodity Investment Research · 16 October 2026 · Reference edition 1

The studies use government-produced inventory and agricultural-balance figures, with dated provenance and original derived charts. A government website can also contain protected third-party material. This edition does not redistribute commercial futures feeds or reproduce vendor charts.

Why these data were selected

EIA’s weekly commercial crude and working-gas series support two different physical-market questions: the shape of an inventory accumulation and the seasonal context of a storage level. USDA’s frozen WASDE editions support a third question about revisions to the same crop-year balance. Their identities, units and historical periods are explicit; the publication does not imply that these series represent every commodity market or investment instrument.

The inventory extract ends in December 2024 by design. Its retrieval in October 2026 does not make the underlying observations current, and its historical dates do not make them point-in-time releases. The May and August 2024 crop reports preserve their original forecast vintages. Dates should accompany any quotation, exported chart or reused result.

Public-domain government work and third-party exceptions

EIA’s reuse policy permits use of its government publications and data, with appropriate acknowledgment and dates. It also distinguishes protected material contributed by private organisations. The datasets retained here are EIA inventory estimates; the chart paths are original calculations from those extracts. An EIA article that cites Bloomberg or another vendor is not a blanket licence to redistribute the vendor’s underlying market prices.

USDA’s official website policies explain its public-domain government information and exceptions for copyrighted material. The corn extract contains factual values from the government-produced WASDE tables. Linked exchange and other third-party publications provide context for definitions and contract conventions; they are not copied into a market-data service. No endorsement, data licence or institutional relationship is inferred from a citation.

What the receipts prove

The public provenance record provides the source URLs, retrieval dates, selection notes and hashes needed to identify the retained evidence. A separate access receipt records direct HTTP outcomes, including any denied or unconfirmed access. A successful response establishes access at that check; it does not establish a claim’s meaning, the rights to every element on a page or perpetual availability.

The original source snapshots and extraction work are retained with this edition’s source files. The public downloads contain the selected numerical extracts and a sanitized provenance record. An upstream revision or a later corrected transcription requires a new dated edition rather than silently rewriting the meaning of the frozen study. This is a manual editorial workflow, not a promise of recurring source surveillance.

Source notes

  1. EIA copyright and reuse
  2. USDA policies and links

Source dates and scope matter. Historical inventory observations are retained snapshots; forecasts and synthetic curve assumptions are labelled separately. No investment outcome or product coverage is implied.
